Usman Khawaja: I am not sure to be honest (what I did differently). I executed my plans, tried to score when I saw a scoring opportunity and respected the good ball. It is not rocket science, it was good to get a partnership with Marnus, felt like the start was the toughest time to bat with the new ball being inconsistent but it was nice to get the partnership. It is not an easy wicket out there.
It is hard to say (if the pitch changed), it was spinning in the morning and spinning in the afternoon, it is a spin friendly wicket. We will know more tomorrow but I don't expect it to get any better. I sweep on length most times, line sometimes when the offspinner goes down leg and I used the sweep more intermittently. I did the same thing last week too and it is good to have in your arsenal. The plan hasn't changed but it has been dictated by the pitch and how the bowlers are bowling at you.
A day out of Australia's wildest dreams really. After getting hammered in the first two Tests, they've turned up in Indore and put India through the wringer on what was a raging turner in the morning session. The bite seems to have gone off the surface as the day's gone on, or maybe India haven't quite been at their best with the ball either. But the visitors already are ahead by 47 with six wickets still in hand. After Matthew Kuhnemann led the show earlier on with his first Test five-for, Usman Khawaja showed the way with the bat, compiling a near-faultless fifty before perishing to the sweep shot.
And while they're still not out of sight, thanks to Ravindra Jadeja's relentless spell of bowling - taking all four wickets to fall - they're very much ahead after losing the toss. It was that morning session where most of the damage was done, with the spinners capitalizing on the early moisture and getting the ball to bite off the surface. That first session has been crucial right through the series, and it's where India will have to be at their best tomorrow to chart a comeback.
